My Background    

 

My retirement in the summer of 2022 provided the opportunity to distill decades of family counseling experience into a new framework for parenting adolescents.  The result is “The Family Decision-Making Roadmap: a Practical Guide to Parenting Your Teen.” A second book in progress is tentatively called “How Our Children Help Us Grow: The Impact of Parenting on Adult Development.”

During my career, I worked at the Morrison Center as a clinical director, as a clinical instructor in the child psychiatry department at Oregon Health Science University, in a pediatric clinic as well as in my own private practice. 

 

I taught and published in the areas of child abuse, family therapy and other childhood problems.
